The MEFV awards its grants once a year, in the winter. We accept applications by US mail year-round. Applications must be postmarked by October 15th to be eligibile to be reviewed for awards announced on or about the following March 1st.
No exceptions are made to this schedule.
You are eligible to apply for a given year's grant awards if your expected entry date lies between now and 15 months after that year's award date. For example, you can apply for the March 2011 awards if you are scheduled to enter any time between now and June 1, 2012. However, if you are scheduled to enter before the year's award date (e.g. March 1, 2011), please be sure to read our page on Prudence and Faith and consider your options carefully.
If your application is denied, you may reapply in any following year as long as you are still making a good faith effort to pay your loans. Please note that this means that if you enter your order or seminary and stop making loan payments, you may not reapply.
To reapply, please submit a letter indicating you are reapplying and informing us of your payment progress since you last applied. Reapplications must include newly completed application forms. If there has been a significant change in your vocation story, you may include an addendum to it.
